| Company History: Brauns Locksmith had its roots planted firmly in Kitchener soil early in the 1900s by founder Gordon L. Braun. Gordon Braun made the difficult decision to leave the family farm in 1925 and forge his way in the “Big city” by starting his own locksmithing and general repair business. Gordon, a talented craftsman, put his ingenuity and technical expertise to work in a time when everyday items were too valuable to dispose of and his vision of a successful locksmithing and general repair shop soon became a reality. Gordon's business was constantly growing and changing, at one time Gordon was actually the area Indian Motorcycle dealer, and also began to sell and service bicycles. With the introduction of his two sons into the business some new venues were explored and Brauns soon became famous for its hobby division. Well know everywhere for the amazing model train layouts that were always displayed in the front window of the store and the extremely popular Slot car Racetrack that was operated in the basement of Braun’s current location at 270 King St. E. Many of the things that made Gordon's business so successful are still a part of the modern day Braun’s Locksmith. If Gordon needed a part for something and was unable to obtain it or the cost was too high he would simply make it. The same is true today of Braun’s third generation family business, if a part is needed, or custom modifications required and a supplier cannot be found Gorgon’s son Murray and two grandsons David and Steven often find it necessary to fabricate it themselves. Dedicated to customer satisfaction the Braun family, Murray and wife Marilyn along with their two sons David and Steven try to treat each and every customer as they expect to be treated, the exact recipe for success that was always adhered to by founder Gordon L. Braun. Traditional locksmithing is only a part of many related services offered by Brauns Locksmith today. Braun’s also manufacture “made to order” custom window bars and have an ever growing portfolio of custom designed security devices that are manufactured by them to meet some of the specialized security needs of their clients. |
